Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style often seen on the stages of musicals and productions.

The highly energetic dance style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. Children can start Modern Theatre from school age where they will start to develop a sense of rhythm and performance. As they progress through the ISTD grades they will develop flexibility, strength, rhythm, musicality and co-ordination. 

Modern Theatre can be a very exciting style of dance as it can be funky and stylised, soft and lyrical or fast and dynamic. It often goes side by side with current and popular dance trends.
