We can’t believe the summer holidays are already upon us, time has really flown this year! It’s been another wonderful term and we have loved seeing pupils grow in all areas!

Please see below our latest newsletter before we take a break for the Summer!

Reminders–

You are invited to come and watch your child’s dance classes w/c 14th July. Please see email for further info.

Last classes of term are Monday 21st July with Star and Lucy!

Autumn Term Dates

Monday 15th September – Saturday 13th December

No classes w/c 27th October due to half term

Timetable

The September 2025 timetable has now been sent out to you all and you can view a copy of it here. We are really proud to have such a wide range of classes on offer for pupils!

Invoices

Invoices for the Autumn term are being prepared and will be sent out the w/c 14th July. Payment will be due in August to ensure your child’s space is secured for the new term. Please, please ensure you let us know before the payment due date if you wish to make any changes to your child’s class schedule!

Taster Classes

All current SLH pupils are invited to a free taster class of their choice in any additional style of dance. September is the perfect time to try something new and add a new class to their schedule so do reach out ASAP if you wish to discuss options for them!

Don’t forget we have Ballet, Tap, Modern, Musical Theatre, Lyrical/Contemporary classes available for school aged children +

New Classes

Calling all younger siblings! We are excited to be opening up a new Dancing with my grown up class on Saturday mornings for 2-3 year olds! This is the perfect class to introduce your little one to dance and movement for the first time! A great opportunity for you to make some special memories with your child as they start their dancing adventure and learn their very first dance skills! Click here to register for a taster!

New Teachers

Our wonderful team is expanding and we are delighted to officially be welcoming Miss Lucy, Miss Jodie, Miss Lydia and Miss Phoebe to the teaching team in September! Between them they have a wide range of qualifications and a wealth of experience. We are very lucky to have such a great team lined up for September and they are very excited to get started next term! You may have already met some of them at classes this term but please join me in giving them an official warm welcome! To find out more about the whole SLH team click here!

Thank you Miss Lottie!

We are also sadly saying goodbye to Miss Lottie this term as she focuses on her full time dance teaching role at a local secondary school in September. Please join me in wishing her all the very best for her future and we are very thankful for all her wonderful classes she has taught over the last few years!

Maternity Leave

The Summer holidays also marks the start of my maternity leave! As you know I will be taking a break from teaching whilst I welcome the newest addition to our family in the next couple of weeks. During my time off I will still be running things behind the scenes and will look forward to popping into classes next term to introduce pupils to our new baby boy! Thank you very much in advance for your patience during my time off if replies to emails are slower than usual as I find my feet with a newborn and toddler! As always thank you very much for all the kind words and support I have received and I look forward to sharing news of the little ones arrival hopefully soon!!

Exam Success

As the school year ends we would like to celebrate some wonderful success we have had in our most recent ISTD exams! We are delighted that we have had a 100% pass rate in all entries and pupils have achieved some fantastic results so huge well done to everyone who has taken part!

Grade 2 Ballet- Spencer, Evelyn, Naiah & Anastasia- all achieving a DISTINCTION

Grade 2 Modern Exam– Sophia, Ffion, Elbie & Martha- passed with flying colours and a mix of Distinctions and High Merits!

Grade 2 Modern Class Exam– Holly, Beatrice, Isabelle, Essie & Thea- all passed their first ever modern exam with great marks!

Grade 5 Modern– Camille & Amelia- both achieved 86/100 and a DISTINCTION

Grade 6 Modern- Amelie- took this vocational exam by herself and danced beautifully. We are awaiting results still so huge good luck to her!

Grade 1 Ballet– Millie, Amber & Libby- took their first ever ballet exam remotely and performed their hearts out! Still awaiting results but we are so proud of them!

Good luck wishes also to Camille, Amelia & Mariette who are taking their ISTD G4 Ballet exam this Sunday and Beth & Holly who are taking their ISTD G1 Ballet too. We are very proud of you all!

Finally we would like to thank you all for your continued support this last year and to pupils for working so hard each and every week! We are very proud of the community of dancers at SLH Dance Academy and we love watching pupils flourish on their own dance journeys!

On behalf of myself and all the SLH team we would like to wish you all a wonderful Summer break and hope our dancers have a very well deserved rest! We look forward to welcoming everyone back to classes in September!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a fabulous Summer. With now over 80 students attending classes with SLH Dance Academy last term was definately a busy one and we can’t wait to get back to it this September.

I have been very busy planning the new term and we are now taking bookings for new pupils to start this September. A lot of our classes are very booked up already so please do get in touch in the next few weeks if you would like to book your child in for a taster session next term. I have had lots of enquiries already for children wanting to add more classes to their weekly schedule.  If your child is interested in having a go at another dance style alongside their normal class  then please do get in touch ASAP. Remember we have Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz classes for all age groups throughout the week.

Beginners Tap 

This is a brand NEW class starting Tuesday 12th September 5.00pm-5.30pm @ Malling Community Centre for Receptions- Year 2’s olds who are new to tap dancing and love making lots of noise!! It follows our Grade 1 Modern class also suitable for this age group and would be great if they were looking to do a back to back class in Modern and Tap. The class will teach them the basic steps of tap following the extremely fun ISTD Primary Tap syllabus. If your child is interested then do get in touch to book a free taster. Please be quick though as I am sure it will be very popular with our younger students!

Uniform 

Please note that children must have the correct uniform for all classes. The only exception for this is Pre-School Ballet (2-3 year olds). I would also like to remind you that hair for all classes must be off the face and tied up neatly in a ponytail, plait, bun etc. All ballet pupils (Primary level and above in particular) MUST have a ballet bun for all classes as of September. This is so that the teacher can view their neck line easily and also makes them feel the part in class.

Jenny of Limelight our uniform supplier will be attending classes on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th September so please do go and visit her to get fitted properly.

12 week term

Pre-School 

From September I will be making some slight changes with how I run my Pre-School classes. If your child attend a Pre-School class (2-3 year olds) then parents are invited to stay during the lesson to assist your child. However if your child is in the Pre-School (3-4 year olds) class then I will be asking parents to wait outside of the room during the lesson. I feel that this will prepare them for starting school and also will help aid concentration during the lesson. We will have watching classes throughout the year where I will invite parents to watch their child lesson to see progression.

I have updated my terms and conditions and safeguarding policy. This can be found here.  By attending classes with us you must adhere by our conditions so please read through carefully.

Invoices

All invoices have been sent out with this newsletter. If you haven’t received yours or if your child would like to swap days for a particular class then please let me know sooner than later.

Exams 

We had 23 students taking part in ISTD Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap exams at the end of last term. Each and every child worked extremely hard in the lead up to the exams and it was fantastic to see their progression and enthusiasm. Once all the results have been received from the ISTD I will email out individually to all parents. Fingers crossed!

Summer School 2017

We had another very successful Summer School this year with students learning song and dances from Aladdin, Motown the musical, Sofia the First and Moana. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the week and keep your eyes peeled for more holiday workshops in the coming school year.

Musical Theatre Classes

During the Summer School I had many parents enquiring about musical theatre classes. It is something that I would love to add to the SLH Dance Academy timetable so please let me know if this is something your child would be interested in and I will see if I can add some classes in from Ocotber half term. Musical Theatre would involve singing, dancing and acting (sometimes at the same time!) and the children would learn pieces from musicals and even have the chance to work towards exams.

Summer Show 2018

After the success of our Christmas performance last year I have decided that it is time for SLH Dance Academy to hold it’s first proper dance show. I am currently in the process of sourcing a suitable venue and date and as soon as this has been decided I will let you know so you can add it to your diary! More information to follow soon…

Good Luck

Good luck to all my lovely little pre-schoolers who will be starting Primary School this September and any children moving up to Secondary School. I hope they settle in well and look forward to seeing them at one of our Pre-Primary classes this term.
