September 2020 newsletter
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope everyone has had a lovely summer and that your children are settling back into school well! I am sure many of you are looking forward to restoring some form of “normality” over these next few weeks! We are really looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces again and excited to welcome some new pupils to the school too.
We have worked very hard behind the scenes and are confident in the plans and procedures that we have in place to ensure a safe return for all 😊
Please bare with us whilst we find our feet and adjust to this new way of teaching and running the school. I am sure we will all become very used to the new way of dancing very quickly!
Here are a few reminders for the term ahead:
Term Dates
Saturday 12th September – Saturday 24th October
No classes Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September.
(No classes w/c 26th October due to half term)
Timetable and Invoices
You will have received by now a copy of our timetable and your invoice for the term. (Pre-School parents yours will come this week). Check your invoice carefully as this will have details of your child’s class time and room their lesson will take place in. Please also ensure payments are made by BACS on the due date on your invoice to avoid late payment fees being added.
Venue
A reminder that all classes this term will take place from
Kings Church, Lewes, BN7 2BY.
Please be aware that there are building works going on just outside of the carpark with lots of large trucks etc so please do supervise children carefully when entering and leaving the car park on foot!
Uniform
We understand that pupils may have grown since their last class with us and that uniform has not been as readily available as usual. Therefore if it takes you a couple of weeks to get back in to full uniform then please do not worry, we understand!
If your child has moved up grades and onto a different leotard colour then there is no pressure to buy this straight away. If you would rather wait until they grow out of their old colour first then that is absolutely fine!
Our full uniform list required for all classes can be viewed here:
https://slhdanceacademy.com/uniform/
If you do require new uniform then please contact our supplier Jenny of “Limelight Dancewear” on 01825 765555 and she will be able to make arrangements with you directly. We hope to do a uniform sale by appointment at the end of September and details will be with you shortly on this.
Musical theatre t-shirts and SLH merchandise can be ordered directly here: https://getmekitted.com/slh-77-c.asp
A reminder that pupils must arrive ready for class in uniform as there will be no changing facilities available at the moment.
Second Hand Uniform
I have set up a private buying/selling group for second hand uniform on Facebook for parents/guardians. Please join the group if you wish to buy/sell/pass on any SLH uniform that you may have. www.facebook.com/groups/slhdancesecondhanduniform
Shoes to be worn for all classes
A reminder that due to gov guidance all pupils must wear shoes for all dance classes at the moment. Ballet and Jazz shoes are both suitable or trainers/plimsoles/trampoline socks. These must be different from what they have worn outside to class. Regrettably at this time if your child does not have shoes to change into then they will not be allowed to participate.
Re-enrolment/Portal
Thank you to those of you who have completed your re-enrolment on our customer portal already. If you haven’t done so yet please register via the link emailed out to you before your child’s first lesson! We have updated our terms and conditions and policies which you are required to agree to as part of the re-enrolment.
The portal will be a great way for you to update contact details, see your child’s class details and view our policies etc so I hope this will be beneficial to you all.
COVID-19 Procedures
Please ensure you have fully read through our COVID-19 secure procedures that were emailed out to you so you know what to expect. If you missed our email then you can view the procedures here https://slhdanceacademy.com/ts-cs/
We are really grateful in advance for your co-operation with the above.
Drop Off/Collection
A reminder that we will be operating a drop, go and collect system for classes. Please do not congregate outside the building during classes. Parents of older pupils are encouraged to stay in the car and watch pupils be greeted at the main entrance by their class teacher as much as possible. At this time parents are not allowed to enter the building before/during/after dance classes.
**Parents of children aged 5 years and under or new starters are to wait outside Kings Church preferably in the car or socially distanced on the path during your child’s lesson please.**
Drop off and collection points will be signposted on the doors at Kings.
Pre-School
Many thanks to all our pre-school parents who have been patiently waiting for more details on the return to these classes. It has been a little bit more complex sorting logistics out for our Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning pre-school classes but I look forward to sending you your information this week and getting our youngest dancers back in the studio this September! You will be sent, invoices, covid-19 procedures and portal details too as well with this information.
Toilet Trips
Please encourage younger pupils to go to the toilet before arriving at Kings Church and ensure they are capable of using the toilet by themselves.
Class Availability
We do have some availability left in a few of our classes. If your child has a friend or sibling that is interested in joining us then please do get them to contact us and we can see if we have availability for them. Pupils can start with us from the age of 2 so there really is something for everyone!
Half Term Workshop
We are looking to run some half term workshops on Wednesday 28th October so pop this date in your diary and we will release more information in the next couple of weeks!
All the SLH Dance Academy team are eagerly ready to go and cannot wait to bring back the magic of dance through our classes. We completely understand that pupils may be feeling a little anxious about returning after so long but we hope that with your guidance before and familiar faces from their dancing friends they will settle back in quickly 😊
Dance has so many benefits for students mental and physical wellbeing and we understand the importance on them having fun as they get back to classes! All SLH teachers will strive to make the return to classes as happy and positive as we possibly can!!
Best wishes for a new and exciting term!
Sophie and the SLH Dance Academy team x
